Democracy
is a system which gives everyone an equal right; it protects minorities and
promotes welfare of the public. However, is there realistically such a system
of government? Does democracy truly exist in our world?
Perhaps
in today’s world certain forms of democracy are alive; however, “true democracy”
seems to have been lost. Examples of this are shown all over the world; people
are out on the streets protesting against atrocious policies.
People
are gradually realizing that their ‘representatives’ do not actually represent
them – a call for real democracy is being made now. People want to have an
active say about decisions as well as policies being made and implemented in
the society.
Then
again, we must ask ourselves if ‘true democracy’ will really solve our
problems. If every person was given the
opportunity to voice their opinion about every policy there would be never
ending disputes. Also, who would regulate the society if things were to get out
of hand?
Conclusively,
true democracy seems to live only in theory – whether or not it should exist
outside of theory is debatable.

You are right that in practical sense it might not be like the way we think it will turn out to be. So it does make us confuse that what is best for us if democracy then which type of because history gives us lessons both in their favor and against it.
I totally agree with you that in today's world, democracy which was considered an ideal system to be followed by every society is losing it's charm. In the name of democracy people are being exploited. The powerful classes are gaining more and more power, marginalizing the role and say of other social classes.
