Session 5 : Progression from state of nature to civil society.

Mankind came to existence in a state of nature, where there was no order, no rules and no cooperation between the people of the time. It was a state of abiding and inevitable war, with no aspiration for peace. Gradually, men developed a systematic civil society and has been able to foster it even further.

Sagacious as he is, man has still been known to be self centered, more concerned with his own well being. However, he didn't fail to realize the need for an authority to submit to, that could administer control to regulate the society, he lived in. This shaped the genesis of the civil society, as we know it today.

It is this social contract that binds the mankind, to live together in harmony, to decide which laws to enact, etc. However, it is argued that it is this social contract that distinguished an elite from the poor. Men in the beginning, were all created equal. It is this civil society that gave rise to the class system. A government is formed, which promises equality and protection. When their own interest is inclined towards, the individuals within the government, amassing private property.

To rectify today's civil society and to emancipate it from issues like corruption, we must form a sovereign of equal men, compelled to be directed towards the general interests.

Well how do we form a "sovereign of equal men, compelled to be directed towards the general interests"? I got the Marxist vibe from the piece, but Marxism failed in practice, so how do we then bring about this equitable society that provides for equal protection of everyone under the law?
