Make up post: Feminism does not equal misandry

Quite a few people who are against feminism claim that they are well aware of what feminists stand for. However, more often than not, I hear those very people denounce feminism as man-hating. To believe that feminism is equal to misandry and that all or most feminists hate men, is a dangerous thing. It is equivalent to believing that all or most Muslims are terrorists. How often have those in the West accused Muslims of being dangerous, simply due to the actions of a few extremists? How often is Islam portrayed in an extremely negative light? And how often does it hurt us to see that something we believe in is not only ridiculed but misunderstood completely?

The purpose of comparing a religion to this social/political movement is to point out the fact that quite often, people who blatantly object to particular beliefs and/or ideologies are misinformed about them in the first place. I do not wish that everyone agree with my point of view. However, I do wish that people understand it. Simply put, feminism is the belief in gender equality. The radical branch of feminism, is not representative of the entire ideology. In my opinion, the very word radical entails a diversion from the actual ideology. Therefore, equating feminism with misandry simply due to the views of a few radicals (who in the name of feminism attempt to achieve superiority) is very problematic. Feminism can be extremely useful to put men and women if it is understood and implemented correctly.
