Session 22: Wars will forever exist

All animals are perpetually at war; every species is born to devour another. There are none, even to sheep and doves, who do not swallow a prodigious number of imperceptible animals. Males of the same species make war for the females, like Menelaus and Paris. Air, earth, and the waters, are fields of destruction. "Voltaires essay on war"

War is defined as a state of conflict between nations or groups of people. In general a war is a physical battle fought for supremacy over others. Mankind has seen many wars throughout the course of history. Some fought to satisfy ego's, others to gain the majority of the precious resources of the planet. The only thing stagnant throughout history has been the existence of wars. A quote signifies this aspect in its fullest:

“... only the dead have seen the end of war.”
Soliloquies in England, Scribner's, 1922, p. 102

The world has seen wars and shall continue to do so. The world today strives for stability and an attempt to maintain peace throughout. If history is something to learn from, then human behavior is inclined towards war. All the necessary components that sparked wars are in existence in this point of time. The issues range from a conflict of interest between nations and the alliances forged between them, failure of the united nations in solving these conflicts, imperialist interventions by the super powers to a more direct concern of the scarcity of resources like fossil fuels. The obstacles of nuclear devastation and an interdependent economic system block the chances of a massive war. But in case of serious adversity like the water crises, man shall not be able to withhold the internal instincts and thus a dilemma such as this can prove to be a trigger for world war 3.
