Session 22: Civil War
Civil wars are one of by-product of power game and is defined
as the war fought within the fractions of the state, trying to again power or
rule and overthrow the government. There
are several reasons for the civil war.
Government’s unjust and discriminatory behavior and segregated policies within different
parts and communities can leads to the civil war because these policies mostly favor some sections while excludes the
others. The civil war of 1971 between
East and West Pakistan was mostly based on this reason. East Pakistan was the major contributor in Pakistan’s economy but lacks
enough political power and government representation. The West Pakistan’s government was trying to uphold their supremacy by ignoring the Eastern part in terms of economic and political powers Thus constant ignorance to
Eastern’s Pakistan demands leads to creation of Bangladesh.
The unequal resource distribution can also leads to civil
wars. As the resources are scare in nature and promotes competition among
different communities. In game of survival of fittest, the poorest and ignorant ones are badly affected because they lack resources to fulfill their needs as compare to richer one. Thus constant ignorance emerges rebellion among
people which ends up with civil war.
Civil wars causes more destruction than any other type of war
because it not only hinders economic development but also shatters the unity of
the nation.
