Session 23- Drug Trade

The world's largest industry in the world is the pharmaceutical industry. Few main biggest pharmaceutical company owners come from the west, namely USA, France and Switzerland. This is illustrative of where the money is going to. The medicinal trade is spread world wide, and in each country in the world. People continue to get sick and injured and plagued, hence this illustrates that the demand is everywhere.

There is a darker side to this trade and unfortunately it is on a grander scale. The illegal drug trade that encompasses the globe in various forms is actually one of the largest and most profitable industries in the world. This gives rise to drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling and other social vices. Countries which are known to be the largest producers and distributors worldwide of illegal drugs include Mexico, Columbia, Afghanistan and Burma.

Since, there is import and export of all kinds of drugs and notedly throughout the world, this makes it an international issue. To reduce trafficking and smuggling, as these actions breach the sovereignty and control of country(s), international cooperation is required. Any international alliance, joint venture, union brings the issue into the political sphere, and it is thus then dominated by political strategies as to how the issue has to be dealt and how countries can help and in what capacity.

I agree that illegal trade and the wide accessibility of unlawful liquidity not just keep reasonable and open markets from coming to their full monetary potential and undermine state sway, however the hard truth is that illegal trade additionally rots groups as kleptocrats, offenders, terrorists, and illegal systems overwhelm each aspect of life in specific communcommunities.
