Bureaucracy is a very important state institution and its
functionality is of foremost significance. Bureaucracy is essentially responsible
for the administration of large number of people. The public and private sector
both depend on the bureaucracy for smooth running of their operations. Even individuals
have to contact the bureaucracy for their matters. Basically anything that is
to be made official, it has to go through the bureaucracy.
To be part of Pakistan’s bureaucracy, one has to clear the
CSS (Central Superior Services) exam. After passing the exam, one can be part
of any one occupational group. For example, Pakistan Customs Services (PCS), Commerce
& Trade Group (PCG), Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP), Pakistan Administrative Service (DMG)
etc. The position/marks one gets in the exam determines which group they will
be appointed in.
Pakistan’s bureaucracy is one of the most powerful
institutes in the country. It is a colonial legacy, i: e, the British ruled the
subcontinent through these bureaucracies and when they left and Pakistan became
an independent state, Pakistan continued to make use of this institute for systematic
and liable running of the state.

I agree with Haya. Bureaucracy does play a very important role in Pakistan. The responsibilities and functions that a bureaucracy is liable to perform such as the implementation of law and policy, are a significant contributor to peace and stability in Pakistan. Not only this but in terms of the current negligent government of Pakistan, the bureaucracy is expected to fill the gap.
