Session 16: Civil Servants

Central Superior Services is one of the most wanted services of Pakistan. The entire youth base of Pakistan desires to join the service. The pay structure of the service is very low, however, the services that comes with it are tremendous. You are provided with acres of land to live in, hundreds of people to work for you and many cars to take care of your office work and your family.

Quaid-e-Azam in one of his speeches talked about how civil servants were not the rulers of the people but their servants. However, the way these people have operated in the country, they can be easily considered the rulers of the people. These guys stay in the system for years and are more deadly than the politicians that are likely to change every 5 years. If we need to change our servants, not only do we need to get the system right and starts making these people believe that they are the rightful servants of the people. If they start doing that, our country will be on the road of development faster than ever.

I completely agree with your views regarding the sad state of the bureaucracy in our country. Not only this, 92.5% of the people selected from the CSS exams are chosen based on the quota system, which is nothing but a way to cheat educated people and people with merit to pass the exam.
