Liberal Feminism; A Necessity

Women have been suppressed and demoralised throughout the world history. In every field of life, gender discrimination has taken place. Men have always been placed at an upper level when compared to women. This disdainful act has discouraged women, and women have become desperate to attain their rights. For this purpose, many theories have been placed, different organisations have been formed, who fight for women rights and laws. Political parties have also played their part, to represent this issue on a greater and broader context.

Liberal Feminism is a part of feminism or the feminist theory, which works for the equality, freedom, education, health, representation, sexual abuses and hence every field of life related to women. This theory states that women have the right to make their choices according to their will, and they should be given their share, equally as compared to men. Discrimination should be eradicated and equality between both the genders should attain. This theory has been supported by many social and political organisations in the past, and many issues and problems related to women have been solved, on the basis of its concept.

This theory seeks for nothing but basic demands for living. Women are equal to men in every field of life and there is no difference between them, on the basis of which, discrimination can be done. Women should be given their equal share in the society. Just according to this theory, healthcare programs, education, voting rights, a fixed number of representation in the parliament, job facilities, and hence each right should be given to women as is given to men. Only in this way, equality can achieve its perfection and the society can live up to its mark. Hence everyone should contribute towards this act and support it rather than finding its pros and cons.

I think it can never be ended or can never be removed because it can never be removed by the government or by the people. Actually the people have their minds relating that they support women or men. So its too difficult to eract those things from their minds who are against the liberalism of women.

It is only through education can women be truly empowered to achieve their full potential and stand shoulder to shoulder with men!

The basics of gender inequality stem from the earning structure of households with man as a bread winner and women mere dependents and the financial subordination places women in a lower position visa-vis men.. Hence, by eradicating these roles and both genders equally carrying out their professional lives, this dependency can be ended and women can achieve equal status to that of men such as suggested by liberal feminism.

I agree. Liberal feminism demands very basic rights for women which everyone should be supporting. It is very disheartening to see people try to come up with a list of pros and cons of a theory which really seems to be quite simple and beneficial to both genders.

It is agreed that liberal feminism only asks for the basic rights but demands such as women getting reserved seats will only serve the purpose that women are a minority . Or are at some disadvantage . Special rights and reserved seats are overall given to the those who are a minority just like affirmative action in the states . However I feel that it is important to level the playing field for those who have been robbed of their rights in the past.
