The
sway and antagonism between political parties is exhibited in the recent spat
between the Democrats and the Republicans on the US-Iran nuclear deal. Iran is
said to be developing weapons of mass destruction under the guise of a civil
nuclear program. And to put an end to this nuclear program several sanctions
have been placed on Iran. Recently, the Obama government is trying to crack a
deal with Iran where Iran gives up its nuclear aspirations in favor of getting
sanctions removed which have forced Iran into economic dereliction. However,
the Republicans are mistrustful of such an action and in an attempt to bog it
have released a statement, signed by 47 members, saying that any such deal
would only live as long as Obama’s government and will be cancelled when Obama
exits. A few of the Republicans and no Democrat have signed this statement.
This entire conflict between the two parties exhibits party differences in a
two party system, and a difference of opinion which is important for the
development of democracy in the sense that it promotes democratic culture. Some
of the few Republicans who have no signed the statement have done so in order
to win favor of the Democrats in order to gain support for the legislation they
plan to bring. This shows how people in the same party may have differing
opinions of important issues for vested interests which also add to the chorus
of sounds which eventually form a democracy by providing more options to the
masses.

A well identified aspect of political parties and interest articulation. It is extremely important for democracies to have all sorts of inputs coming in and the consolidation of those, however, the USA is considered the most developed form of democracy. Systems in the other parts of the world can be paralyzed with such arrangement of political parties, and for many reasons, in my opinion, societies need to go through complete modernization for such a system to work efficiently.
