Session 14- Marxism

Karl Marx in the communist manifesto wrote that the history of all society is the history of class struggles. He stated that the distinctive feature of the bourgeoisie era is that society is increasingly being divided into two hostile camps: the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. An interesting point, which he stated, was that the only class, which could challenge the bourgeoisie, was the proletariat,

He stated that the ultimate aim of the bourgeoisie was the elimination all differences of age, gender and ethnicity, thus creating a uniform labor force and allowing each and every worker to be completely replaceable, essentially turning labor into a commodity.

In the present age , real examples exist which prove Marx to be correct. One example is the increase in inequality in the USA, the top 0.1 % control the same amount of wealth as the bottom 90%. Marks also talks about the fact that bourgeoisie societies try to spread their influence, ”it creates a world after its own image”. This can be seen in Americas attempts to “neo-liberalise” the entire world, by promoting free trade & democracy.
