Political parties exist to represent the views of groups, they promote those views and opinions by nominating candidates who are elected to hold the office. Even though political parties are declining in other parts of the world for instance Britain where party memberships have reduced to a certain extent, Parties play an important role in Pakistan.
Political parties have mobilized numerous people thus, people associate themselves to their parties holding sentimental values. For instance, during the time of great adversity for the muhajir community, when they faced discrimination and were subject to a quota system which no one opposed, Altaf Hussain emerged. He acted as a charismatic leader bring hope for the muhajirs of Sindh, giving them a platform to present their views and acquire their rights. Similarly, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto still has numerous supporters because he emerged at a time when the masses were dejected by Ayub's dictatorship. His socialist manifesto and the promise of "roti, kapra and makan" for everyone gained attention. His charisma later developed in to tradition which we can see as people still support his daughter and her kins.
However, PPP did take a shift towards the right when it subdued the opposition and protests through coercion. Similarly, MQM has developed fascistic elements for example, the whole town gets shuts and daily activities get banned via force. Despite a change in the agendas and ideologies of political parties in Pakistan, they continue to maintain popular support as people place trust in their leaders and any decline in the parties seems difficult.

I agree with Fatima. Political systems play a role of immense importance and are an integral part of political systems and policy implementation. They exercise great control over the maintenance of peace and stability in an economy. Political parties are actually one of those few entities who can pull economies out of their socio-economic problems owing to the considerable power they hold. They are capable of bringing huge changes only if they invest the power and authority they hold in the right place.
I totally concede with you. In our political system parties do hold an immense importance. Parties are the ones that represent the public and bridges a gap between the government and its citizens. They make and implement policies that are in favor of the public. However, in Pakistan the scenario is different, each party is exploiting the people in the name of democracy and their representation. In reality, they all are working for their own benefits ( power and wealth)
