This August Pakistan saw a large group of protesters at Islamabad's D Chowk who were calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The driving force behind this was the PTI and its chairman Imran Khan. Many people raised the question of whether or not what PTI was doing in Islamabad was democratic or not.
The concept behind the Azadi March was to stop election rigging in Pakistan, which according to the PTI happened at an enormous scale during the last elections. The electoral system really does need to be rethought and revamped. Considering that the PTI stood as the third largest party in the National Assembly, was protesting the best way to go about this problem. Democratically speaking, no. They could have used the powers vested in them as members of the National Assembly and the government of KPK to force the government to push these reforms.
Furthermore, to a lot of people watching this seemed as an another attempt by the PTI to undermine the government it believes is unconstitutional. The stance of the party seems to usually conveys them as being the rightful victors of the last election and that it is their duty is give the people back their mandate. All that is great, however the PTI should learn to accept its loss (even though they may have been rigging) and use the opportunity it has in KPK to exemplify their good governing skills.

I agree with you that the azadi march was undemocratic and not the right way to demand justice even though the reason behind it was completely justified. However, i would like to add that the government and the army played a vital role in suppressing it since it would have opened the floodgate for further protests where a group of individuals would have gathered people and threatened the government, making it a norm.
