Pakistan and Liberalism

Liberalism is a generalized political ideology or worldview founded on the ideas of liberty and equality. Liberalism support ideas such as civil rights, free press, free and fair elections, human rights and free exercise of religion.

Many Pakistanis assume "liberalism" as being something "bad", when many teachings of islam can be equated with liberalism. A person who follows the true essence of liberalism would never support drone attacks, never support the wholesale slaughtering of innocent people and most importantly would never deliberately speak out against his or her own country using lies and deception. Liberalism supports freedom - the freedom of choice, speech, and expression, also freedom to live. Liberalism should not be equated with negative words. Pakistan needs liberalism to fight extremism.
The liberal class in Pakistan have been getting quite a negative reputation of late  For some reason, liberals are usually associated with something "bad" and "foreign" in our country . This should be stopped in order to benefit from the political ideology of liberalism. .

Yes i totally agree with your point, people with narrow minds always think negative about other people and anyone talking about the freedom of rights and speech is considered to be a traitor. This thing should be changed

Of course this should be changed as you are both saying about that but you know the rural areas have more space in Pakistan than Urban areas so how we can spread the liberalism there. How we can change the minds of those people who have very narrow ranges. The government has to think on it.

Its not about changing the mind sets of people. In Pakistan when we label people as Liberals, we talk about their tolerance and their individuality. In Pakistan you are either a Conservative or a Liberal. Its either this or that, this needs to be changed. There is always a middle ground which alot of us dont even consider due to the constant pressures of society. Once again I feel it all stems down to Education. Education should be spread in the rural areas to keep them more up to date regarding the ideologies present in the society.
