Session 11: Constitution


Constitution is the set of established proceedings and laid out fundamental rules in order to govern a state. Constitution basically keeps in mind the rules and regulations needed to be implemented in a country in order to benefit maximum people and to ensure rights of most of the country. Constitution is very important in running a government, it defines the course of actions the officials are going to take during their time of reign and also elaborates the ideologies being followed by the leaders. Constitution plays an important role in building the foundations of a country, to ensure power of the state, to make a uniform rule benefiting and reaching out to maximum people in the society, to protect freedom of the state in international community and to protect rights of the locals on national level, to legitimize the rule of the government and to give the foundation of government’s course of actions. Constitution plays an important part in any country’s day to day matters to protecting its rights in the international community. Constitution gives the locals a sense of what their rights are and when they can question the rule of their chosen leaders thus, constitution needs to be formulated in a way to maximize the stability and harmony in the country.

furthermore, i think a constitution can also be a setback and a legalist obstacle in a scenario where too many rules or too strict procedures actually compromise the efficient functioning of the government and in a scenario where the written document is given priority preference over the people and state.

also, while constitution is important, political culture, i would argue, is equally important because in a scenario where the two conflict, it has been observed in many instances that the constitution is not adhered do despite its presence and legal value.
