make up post: Feminism

I had a certain views regarding feminism before we formally discussed this issue in class. Studying about feminism as an ideology was a very different concept for me. I certainly believe feminism is important as a concept, as far as it gives rights to both the genders. However, the extreme side of feminism- the 'Radical Feminists', is the side I do not agree with.

It was interesting an interesting analogy that Sir made, Radicals can be on both ends of the spectrum. Whether they are conservative or liberal. So in that regard, radical feminists are 'liberal Talibans'. As offensive as that may be, it was just worth thinking over.

Moreover, Feminism as an ideology, in my opinion can not lead the nation. Its a good concept but then again, highly utopian and not realistically possible. I am a believer of 'functionalism', which is every individual and institute has their own role to play in the society which is what keeps the society from falling into chaos. Men and women are made differently, though their status may be equal, they should be given equal opportunities in life, but it is not a competition. There are a certain things men are better at and there are a certain things women are better at. Just like in psychology every individual has a different EQ and SQ level. If they lean more towards EQ, they are better at doing humanities and if they lean towards SQ, their brain works more towards the scientific field and math.

I may have been a staunch believer of feminism, how ever, that has changed quite a bit after rationally studying it. In my opinion people or a nation can achieve so much more if they work collectively, or work at what they are good at- their strengths, rather than being a rebel without a cause.
