Session-12 Pros and Cons of Party System.

A party is a group of people based on a common interest or a cause. Parties in different countries are based on different ideologies.

Political parties provide a link between public and the rulers. They gain vote on the basis that they will fulfill their promises and commitments with the voters and will work in their benefits. Party’s sincerity to the public can only be judged once it comes to rule that whether it makes favorable conditions for the proliferation of the public good or they just stick to their own interests.

Parties represent the voice of the public and they usually set goals. These goals vary from party to party. These goals can be based on the interest of their supporters. The presence of party system depicts the active politics in a country and keeps the masses in a constant awareness about who rules them and how.

The basic purpose of ruling party is to run the mundane affairs of a government and to maintain the foreign relations of the country as per the policies.

Parties are conceptualized normally as a sort of unification of public opinion but irony is that, it is also a way of public division. According to the reading, Russia’s problem has been a proliferation of parties and political groupings and in 1995 almost 43 parties contested and the one who won had just a vote percentage of 22.

Public is mostly susceptible about the ruling party’s decisions and policies. So it happens often that when a party wins, the opponent party blames of rigging and other misdemeanors, as a result, the continuous blaming struck the mind of masses and fill them with suspicion.
