Session-10 Executive

Executive is that branch of government which is responsible for enforcing laws and judicial decisions and for the day to day administration of the state. It can be political and non-political.

Political executive includes the elected politicians or mass representatives while the non-political includes the bureaucrats.

Executive is lead by the president, prime minister and the cabinets. Different countries have different responsibilities and roles of different executives, for example, the role of the presidents of US and India is quite dissimilar.

Executive mainly deals with the application of law which is made by the legislative body so in one sense if any catastrophe or any national damage occurs then it is the executive branch which deals with urgent situations otherwise the political discourse can take a long time for an urgent decision.

Political executives and some high ranking bureaucrats are the ones which have a direct influence on policy making while at low level, it is just the enforcement of rules which are showered down to the masses to maintain civil order. So executive is the right hand of a state and very crucial to maintain a state’s system.
